–Hilary Swank, who’s expecting twins at 48, showed off her belly bump in a holiday snap.
-This is a great interview with Claire Danes on her work in Fleishman Is in Trouble. She talks about how she shot the guttural screaming scene in one take (“We left it at that—I was quite relieved that I didn’t have to completely ruin my voice box. We all have a pretty hardy scream in us. I was surprised. As it was happening, I was like, Oh, wow! There’s more breath in here! This is still going!’ It was just a very long wave that I surfed until it deposited me on shore”). Episode 7 was her big showcase and it was even better than the book had me expecting.
-Speaking of excellent profiles, here’s one with Emma Thompson talking about doing a musical and reflecting on how women always seem to end up taking care of those around them. “They have to be like that because no one else will fucking do it.”
-The White Lotus costars Meghann Fahy and Leo Woodall are rumoured to be dating.
-Speaking of rumoured new couples, Phoebe Bridgers is living the indie girl dream. Fresh off her split from Paul Mescal, she’s now rumoured to be dating Bo Burnham.
-Oof, Babylon bombed at the box office. It’s not terribly surprising—it had a terrible marketing campaign, it’s about an incredible irrelevant topic (Old Hollywood), it’s got a star tainted by scandal, and it’s running time is well over three hours. The word is spreading about its divisive ending, too.
-In better box office news, Avatar 2 seems to be overcoming a slow start and terrible weather across the country to have a strong holiday weekend.
–Zendaya is making me want to cut my hair off.
-The anger that NY Mag’s nepo baby story has stirred in Hollywood — mostly from nepo babies themselves — is so wild. Even Jamie Lee Curtis, who previously had a reasonable take on it, is making silly statements.
-Speaking of nepo babies, Leonardo DiCaprio was spotted dining with 23-year-old Victoria Lamas, Lorenzo Lamas‘ daughter, but apparently it was a group thing.
–Leo also hosted a star-studded holiday party, attended by Eiza González, James Marsden, Delilah Belle Hamlin, and Kiernan Shipka.
-Netflix’s announcements about ratings should always be side-eyed, but they claim the viewership for the second half of the Meghan & Harry docuseries is huge.
-The fake celeb death trend on TikTok is really, really dumb.
-An LA jury convicted Tory Lanez of shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
-Here’s the new trailer for M. Night Shyamalan‘s Knock at the Cabin Door, starring Rupert Grint, Dave Bautista, and Jonathan Groff.
