Colin Farrell Makes Us Swoon

-The most charming Actors on Actors interview so far goes to Colin Farrell and Jamie Lee Curtis. When he gets her a water? When he plays her that song and they both tear up? My god.

-In their Actors on Actors interview, Letitia Wright and John Boyega expressed their desire to do a project together. “That’s another box office smash!

-In Variety’s Directors on Directors, Taylor Swift asked director Martin McDonagh about the symbolism in Banshees Of Inisherin.

-Meanwhile, Taylor Swift announced that some fans who signed up for the Verified Fan presale for her Eras Tour last month but were unable to get tickets will get a second chance.

-GMA cohosts TJ Holmes and Amy Robach are still off air and the couple now face an internal investigation at ABC News. Is it just me, or does this feel like a lot?

Emily Blunt said Tom Cruise tough loved her after she freaked out when trying on her 85-pound Edge of Tomorrow suit. “It was so heavy. The first time I put it on I started to cry, and [Cruise] didn’t know what to do. I was like, ‘Tom, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot,’ and just started to cry. I said, ‘I’m feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot.’ He just stared at me for a long time, not knowing what to do, and he goes, ‘Come on, stop being such a pussy, ok?’ I did laugh, and then we got through it, but the training was intense.”

-Just when I think I can’t get any more disappointed by Dave Chappelle, he goes and brings El*n M*sk onstage during a comedy show. Not surprisingly, he got booed hard. The video is so cringe; EM had no idea what to do as the crowd reaction got worse and worse.

-I will read anything by Roxane Gay, but I was especially looking forward to her thoughts on The Whale and she did not disappoint.

-The Golden Globes nominations were announced today and what surprised me most was that Danielle Deadwyler from Till was snubbed in favour of Ana de Armas in Blonde. There were no female directors nominated (sorry, Sarah Polley for Women Talking and Gina Prince-Bythewood for The Woman King), Tom Cruise failed to get a best actor nod for Top Gun Maverick, there was an impressive showing for Babylon, and a total shut out for Will Smith‘s Emancipation. On the TV front, The Globes usually champion new shows more than the Emmys, but Yellowjackets was shut out, though they did nominate Julia Roberts for the little-seen Gaslight. Also, from this season of The White Lotus, Jennifer Coolidge, Aubrey Plaza and F. Murray Abraham were nominated but Meghann Fahy wasn’t, which is insane. I guess they had yet to see her incredible 30 second reaction shot in last night’s finale.

-Meanwhile, I loved The White Lotus finale. Today, a slew of cast interviews landed, with Will Sharpe, who plays Ethan, speculating about what happened between his character and Daphne on that island, Theo James on being a master gaslighter, and Jennifer Coolidge on those “evil gays.” Also, learning that Sabrina Impacciatore improvised the “Peppa Pig?” line made my day.

This interview with The White Lotus costume designer is also good, especially when she talks about the intentional style misfires of the Gen Z characters. “Portia is a bit of a mess. She doesn’t have money, makes some bad choices and spends all her time on TikTok. So we wanted her clothes to reflect that.”

Katie Holmes’ outfit is making me feel like I’m losing my mind. How was this photo taken in 2022?!?

-God, this is so cruel to everyone who works on this show: HBO Max reversed its decision and canceled Minx, even though they announced it was renewed in May. In a double whammy of suck, they’re also removing the first season from their platform.

-HBO Max also cancelled Love Life, a show that had a really strong second season.

Jimmy Fallon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Justin Bieber, Madonna are among the celebs getting sued for shilling their expensive bored monkey NFTs.

-I saw Tár this weekend and then immediately read every think piece I could find. I’m still not sure if I liked it, but wow does it give the audience a lot to chew on. This article about the final act made me want to watch it all again.

-It looks like the gloves are coming off in the second half of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s Netflix documentary. In the new trailer, Harry says that the Palace “was willing to lie to protect my brother; they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us,” while Meghan says “I wasn’t being thrown to the wolves, I was being fed to the wolves.”

-This is an interesting look at how in 2017, the guy who created Honest Trailers was fired amid sexual misconduct allegations. Five years later, he is one of YouTube’s most prolific and profitable Amber Heard haters.

-I don’t watch a lot of horror but I really liked Resurrection (though I still need someone to explain the ending to me). One of the reasons I liked it so much was Rebecca Hall‘s powerhouse performance. This is the best monologue of the year.

Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux play Nixon’s Watergate masterminds in the trailer for HBO’s White House Plumbers.
