Cate Blanchett Goes for Oscar Gold with TÁR

Cate Blanchett promotes her award-baiting new film TÁR by covering Harper’s Bazaar’s November issue. She talks about her career choices (“Being an actor has staved off the inevitable decision about what I have to do with my life, because I’ve empathetically stepped into various different experiences, whether they’re fantastical or based in the real world”) and why she likes taking risky roles (“If I pick up a script, and I can imagine myself [acting] it, I should put it down and let someone else do it. Because I think the process of making it and, therefore, ultimately, probably, the experience of watching it will be thin. It’s much more exciting to be outside of your comfort zone”).

-This is a great read from Gawker about where Brad Pitt could go from here. As they point out, it’s “tough not to see the strings being pulled at every intersection,” especially over the last few months, whether it was wearing a skirt to the Bullet Train premiere, being chummy with ex Gwyneth Paltrow, launching a skin care line, or being linked to model/feminist Emily Ratajkowksi. Says the piece: “He is bankable, he is ‘funny,’ he is award-winning, and he is still here. He’s also, clearly, a piece of shit, but I predict that with enablers all around him, he’ll be able to slide through any sticking or lasting charges.”

-Meanwhile, a representative for Pitt called the allegations in the latest court filing “completely untrue.”

-Also, this is TMZ’s spin, which is kind of jaw-dropping even for them: “Angelina Jolie is on a smear campaign against Brad Pitt, hashing and rehashing the same allegations she’s made for years — allegations that have fallen flat with authorities — this according to sources close to Brad.”  Has she made those allegations for years? Cause I’ve been following this story since 2016 and the allegations of choking/hitting kids is definitely new to me…

Christian Bale was not a fan of acting in front of a green screen for Thor Love And Thunder: “The definition of it is monotony…Can you differentiate one day from the next? No. Absolutely not.” (I bet he was a fan of the paycheque, tho.)

-The SNL sketch about the Charmin bears is causing a stir — both because it aired right next to a Charmin commercial (which NBC says was “coincidental”) and because it was really similar to a YouTube creator’s bit.

Hilary Swank, who is 48, is expecting twins with her hubby of four years, Philip Schneider.

Alec Baldwin has reportedly reached a settlement with Halyna Hutchins’ family as production on Rust is expected to resume in January.

-French actresses Juliette Binoche, Marion Cotillard, Isabelle Huppert and a number of other well known French women cut part of their hair on camera in solidarity with Iranian women.

Velma is officially a lesbian in the new Scooby-Doo movie, and if you Google Velma right now, your page will be filled with pride flags.

Khloe Kardashian says she never posted that crazy Photoshopped pic with an unnaturally teeny tummy and arm. “I never even posted this photo. Maybe my glam did but I didn’t. Also I mean… The bent lines in the back lol please 🤣.

-Moonlighting is finally going to be available on streaming. Ok, now do Once & Again!

-Vogue’s Gabriella Karefa-Johnson has expressed gratitude for all the support she’s gotten during the Kanye West drama. “Today literally said ‘Hiiiii-yah!’ *roundhouse kick to the face, very Mortal Kombat. Your girl has been through it!” Meanwhile, West said they met for two hours yesterday on the behest of Anna Wintour, and that Baz Luhrmann filmed the conversation.  He said they then we went to dinner at Ferdi. I really, really hope for Karefa-Johnson ‘s sake that Vogue didn’t make her do that.
