Florence Pugh Confirms Split from Zach Braff

Florence Pugh wears a black lace dress on harpers bazaar

-There’s been lots of rumours about tensions bts of Don’t Worry Darling, mostly based on (from what I can tell) the fact that Florence Pugh hasn’t seemed to be doing a lot of promotion for it. But she recently started posting about the film on Instagram, and now she’s on the latest cover of Harper’s Bazaar. In the interview, she confirms rumours that she and Zach Braff split (“We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing, because it’s been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on. We just felt something like this would really do us the benefit of not having millions of people telling us how happy they are that we’re not together. So we’ve done that. I automatically get a lumpy throat when I talk about it”) and shouted out the nurses who came to the set at 2am to implement pandemic protocols (“If I shout about one thing it’s that these people made that movie happen. They came to work every day on time and fully respected the process”).

Hailey Bieber also got a Harper’s Bazaar cover, and talked about her marriage: “You don’t figure things out and get married but rather get married and figure things out. I just think life is changing all the time. Day to day, week to week, year to year…I think a perfect example of that is over the last six months, both of us have gone through very serious health issues. You have to figure out how to deal with this shit as it comes, you know? There’s a reason they say, ‘for better or for worse.’ Like, that’s for real!”

Brad Pitt‘s PR and legal attacks on Angelina Jolie seem to have ramped up quite a bit lately. This month alone, we’ve seen a wave of sympathetic stories like Page Six’s “Inside Angelina Jolie’s ‘Constant Stream of Attacks on Brad’ Pitt”, Us Weekly’s “Brad Pitt ‘Pushes to See’ His Kids Amid ‘Tricky’ and ‘Hostile’ Situation With Angelina Jolie” and People’s “Brad Pitt Living Best Life Under the Circumstances.” Did he know something was coming? Was his PR team (who reportedly also reps Johnny Depp) trying to get ahead of it? And if so, was this it: Puck News’ Eriq Gardner is also reporting that after Pitt and Jolie’s fight on a private plane in 2016 that led to their abrupt divorce, the FBI reviewed the evidence and drafted a statement of probable cause for arresting Pitt, but after meeting with an assistant U.S. attorney, they decided not to pursue criminal charges. Now Jolie is demanding to know why it didn’t happen. A “Jane Doe” (who Politico first suggested was Jolie earlier this year) sued the FBI under the Freedom of Information Act, asking what was uncovered during the investigation. Gardner says the records reveal Jolie told the FBI that during the flight, Pitt was drinking in front of her and their six children, poured beer on her while she tried to sleep, and engaged her in two physical altercations in which she sustained injuries (and provided a photo of her elbow to corroborate it). This is the latest round of messiness in their custody fight. Remember, three of his kids reportedly wanted to testify against him, he hasn’t been photographed with any of them since, and Jolie requested the removal of their judge because he hadn’t disclosed his business dealings with Pitt’s lawyers.

-Interestingly, no major outlets seem to be covering this yet except for TMZ and Page Six, who are both running pro-Pitt slants and citing sources connected to him who say Jolie has known for years the information in the FBI report.

-Meanwhile, Jolie is also in the news for a totally different reason: she penned an op-ed for Time on how the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan last year was “the worst possible step” for women in the country.

-Last week, THR reported that Warner Bros was considering three options with The Flash: make Ezra Miller get help/go on an apology tour before doing limited press, keep Miller out of the press junket completely, or scrape the film altogether. Looks like they went with door number one: Miller release a (very PR-y) apology: “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment.”

-In W’s TV Portfolio issue, Nicholas Braun dressed like Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights, Zazie Beetz was Fleabag, Jessica Biel played Mad Men’s Don Draper, and more. The most convincing were Elle Fanning as Paris Hilton in The Simple Life, and Sienna Miller as Ab Fab’s Patsy.

Mark Wahlberg and David Beckham were spotted hanging out in Muskoka.

-Speaking of vacationing celebs, Jennifer Aniston posted pics of her on a beach with Jason Bateman and his wife.

Zoë Kravitz says she wishes she hadn’t spoken out after the Will Smith slap because of all the backlash she got. “I wish I had handled that differently. And that’s okay…It’s a scary time to have an opinion or to say the wrong thing or to make controversial art or statements or thoughts or anything.”

A$AP Rocky has been charged by the Los Angeles District Attorney with felony assault with a weapon.

-This is a very weird interview for She-Hulk writer/producer Jessica Gao to give the week the show premieres. It’s a lot about false starts and last-minute changes, and comes off like the series wasn’t well-planned. She talks about how hard it is to write legal scenes — despite the fact that the show is called She-Hulk: Attorney at Law(!) (“One thing that we all realized very slowly was none of us are that adept at writing, you know, rousing trial scenes”), she handwaves away comparisons to Ally McBeal (“We never really talked about Ally McBeal or referenced her. Because I would say most of our writers’ room was a little bit on the young side to have really known that show during its heyday”), admits they hadn’t thought through the logistics of CGI (“When we were writing the show, I don’t think anybody really knew exactly how we were going to do this CGI character. It was kind of uncharted territory — something of this scale had never been done before. It was a lot of just figuring it out as we went along”), and reveals they moved most of episode 8 into the premiere in post-production (“Switching that up, I’m sure, made people scramble”). A total failure in practically every answer to instill trust and confidence in a prospective audience.
