Kate McKinnon Gets Emotional Over SNL Exit

Kate McKinnon broke down in tears discussing her SNL exit on a podcast: “Telling Lorne [Michaels] was really hard. He knew it was coming. He was very sweet. But he has been a father figure to me, and so much more…This is fresh. It only happened two months ago.”

-Season two of The Flight Attendant was a mess, but this is a really good, raw interview with Kaley Cuoco about shooting it right after her divorce. “I was going through so much right before we started shooting. It was horrible. And I developed a stress rash that ran all the way down my body for three straight months that wouldn’t go away. I literally, like, had fire on my leg for three months. I could barely walk. Zosia [Mamet], my co-star, moved in with me. I really needed someone with me. I was really losing my mind.” She says she “threw an intervention” for herself in her trailer with her producers, where she asked them for help on how to deal with all the art imitating life. “The trauma I was going through probably helped whatever I needed to do for this season…The scene where I break up with Marco — I mean, I could not breathe. I just went in the bathroom, and I literally thought I was going to have a panic attack. Not that what happened to them happened to us. That’s not what I’m saying. It was just the whole idea of the breakup, and saying the words.”

-Former iCarly actor Jennette McCurdy‘s new memoir (and press tour) has been doing a really good job at exposing the issues child actors face.

-Warner Bros is reportedly considering three options with The Flash: if Ezra Miller seeks help and gives a redemption-seeking interview, they might participate in limited press appearances to promote the movie. If they don’t quickly get in line, the promotion excludes them. Or most drastic (and most unlikely): WB scrapes the film’s release altogether.

-Meanwhile, I can’t quite get my head around reports that Warner Bros was working with Miller on The Flash reshoots as recently as this summer!

-Warner Bros bosses are reportedly entertaining the idea of having Batgirl star Leslie Grace continue to play the character in a future DC films (or, at least, have her star in another WB production). I should damn well hope so.

-Also from that article, The Joker 2 is expected to cost $150M to produce, and The Batman 2 has yet to be greenlit. DC is a *mess* right now.

Kevin Federline continues to go low. He posted (then deleted) three old videos of what appears to be Britney Spears arguing with her sons. (The videos just sounded like she was an exasperated yet supportive mom trying to deal with teen boys, so it wasn’t exactly the own he seemed to think it was.)

Neve Campbell opened up on why she won’t be returning to the Scream franchise. “I honestly don’t believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years, that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man.”

J. Smith-Cameron tweeted earlier this week about her Succession costar Kieran Culkin, saying “I threw a drink in Kieran’s face tonight.” I assumed it was just a bit, but Culkin went on Colbert last night and said it happened at at a cast dinner after he pushed her too far. “We were having a dinner and Sarah Snook said ‘You know, men’s ears and noses never stop growing so as they get older they get long ears’ and I [pointed at J.] and said ‘Are you sure that’s just men?’…Later on the restaurant is getting more and more full so it gets harder for her to hear and she keeps having to ask ‘What’s funny? Why are they laughing? What did he say?’ and was like ‘You have all that ear and you can’t hear?’ Still no drink in my face. And then we get the cheque and she goes ‘What’s happening? What are we doing?’ and I take her hand and I go [yelling] ‘WE’RE GOING NOW. WE’RE ALL GOING HOME. IT’S 8 O’CLOCK. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR STAYING UP SO LATE. WE APPRECIATE IT.’ And then [motions drinking throwing]. I deserve it.”

-Here’s a new clip from She-Hulk, in which Jennifer and Bruce debate Captain America’s virginity. Between this and Ant-Man referencing the theory about flying into Thanos’ butt, it feels like the MCU writers need to get off Twitter.

-I guess this is a Yellowjackets spoiler based on who she’s playing, but I love this casting and seeing Lauren Ambrose get work.

-This is an interesting read about why so many docs are released about the same subject around the same time.

-I don’t usually listen to many Twitter Spaces but this one from the NYT on romance novels was great, especially because the authors correctly insist romances must end in a happy ending. This pops up as a Twitter debate every other week and it’s so dumb. Genre books have to follow rules: mystery books need to be solved by the end, horror books need to be scary, and romances need an HEA. If it doesn’t, it’s women’s fic (which is also great, just a different genre).

Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell have an all-consuming love in the trailer for Bones And All. The fact that Call Me By Your Name stars seem surrounded by cannibalism topics is weird.
