BTS Go to Washington

-Here’s BTS at the White House today to discuss Asian hate crimes.

Margaret Qualley seemingly confirmed her engagement to Jack Antonoff with a carousel of cuddly Instagram photos showing off her diamond ring. (Side note: is Pete Davidson becoming the guy you date right before you find your husband?)

-After director Cary Fukunaga was accused of misconduct by three women earlier this month, I was surprised that no major outlet seemed to be covering it. But now Rolling Stone has published a piece citing nearly a dozen sources who claim he routinely pursued romantic relationships with multiple young women on his sets, and his persistence bordered on workplace harassment.

-It’s weirdly satisfying to watch Diplo be denied entry into a Cannes yacht party that he was booked to DJ.

-This is an excellent NYT profile on Jurnee Smollett, who says “the past few years have been heartbreaking.” She talks about Lovecraft Country’s cancellation, the death of her father, her brother Jussie’s arrest, and becoming a single mom following her divorce from musician Josiah Bell after 10 years of marriage.

Moses Ingram posted an instagram story about the racist comments she’s been receiving from Star Wars fans. The official SW twitter account posted a statement defending her.

Kaley Cuoco says she doesn’t have much interest in doing any more seasons of The Flight Attendant. “We did two — we should probably be done. I think I’ve been outnumbered with that thought; there’s definitely interest in doing a third season. I think for me, at this moment, the plane has landed.” I’m ok with that. I loved the first season but have pretty much given up on the mess of the second season.

-I’m less ok with the fact that The Good Fight is ending with season 6.

-In a statement given to Good Morning America, Kevin Spacey said he’s “confident” that he can defend himself against his latest sexual assault charges and “will voluntarily appear” in UK court.

-Because Hollywood can’t let anything die, the Hunger Games prequel is going ahead with Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird, and Tom Blyth as a young Coriolanus Snow.

-Speaking IP that is ripe for a resurrection, I hope the Gone Girl sequel undoes some harm the original film caused. I bet you can draw a straight line from the hysteria over that movie’s calculating femme fatale who lies about abuse and tries to ruin a man’s life to the Depp fans currently yelling conspiracy theories.

Dominic Fike says he took a bunch of shrooms before his Euphoria audition. “I started peaking right when me and Barbie were reading…I looked at [Sam Levinson] and I was like, ‘Are you wearing a dress right now?’ It was crazy. I started making fun of everybody in the room…They were like, What. The. F*ck.”

-I haven’t seen the new Top Gun yet, but everyone seems to be loving this theory.

-Stranger Things’ Noah Schnapp defended The Duffers’ approach to his character Will’s sexuality. “I feel like they never really address it or blatantly say how Will is. I think that’s the beauty of it, that it’s just up to the audience’s interpretation.” I guess he can’t come out and say they were cowards for alluding to it/queerbaiting.

-Meanwhile, if you’ve already finished the new episodes, here’s the teaser for the second half of the season.

-This is cute: James Corden and Harry Styles showed up at a random fan’s Brooklyn home and shot Styles’ “Daylight” music video in three hours and with $300. “I was in a Christopher Nolan video. And now this is my dressing room. Is it too late to just to a Carpool Karaoke?”

-I guessed DeuxMoi was right: Busy Philipps and husband Marc Silverstein have been separated for more than a year.

-When John DiMaggio finally signed onto the Futurama revival, everyone assumed it was after he renegotiated his contract. Sadly, that’s not the case. “People are like, ‘I’m so glad you got more money!’ I didn’t get more money. But what I did get was a lot of respect, and a lot of head nods from people who are like, ‘Yo bro, I see you and thank you.’…Trying to get money out of Disney is like trying to get blood from a stone – you ain’t gonna get it!”

David Cronenberg has an “idea” for a film starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. I’m scared already.

Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo and Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s voice star in the new trailer for Pinocchio, which will stream on September 8 on Disney+. I know I’m not the target audience for this, but the dead-eyed CGI stuff creeps me out.

-Here’s the first trailer for Showtimes’ American Gigolo series starring Jon Bernthal. Oh, yes.
