Taylor Swift Shares Her “Life Hacks” with New Grads

Taylor Swift was given an honorary doctorate of fine arts from NYU today and gave a commencement speech, saying, “My experience has been that my mistakes led to the best things in my life…A lot of the time when we lose things, we gain things too” and “No matter how hard you try to avoid being cringe, you will look back on your life and cringe.”

Riley Keough is making her directorial debut at Cannes with a movie about Lakota men on the Pine Ridge reservation. The Wrap did a big feature about why this is ok, but it’s probably not.

Lori Harvey wore more than 130 carats of diamonds on the Cannes red carpet.

-At Cannes, Tom Cruise confirmed he wouldn’t allow Top Gun: Maverick to debut on streaming. “I make movies for the big screen.”

-Rolling Stone published an account of Taylor Hawkins’ final days, with friends saying he was hesitant about returning to the relentless pace of touring and told multiple people he “couldn’t fucking do it anymore.” But the Foo Fighters say they “dispute Hawkins’ friends’ characterizations of how he was feeling” and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith have both publicly apologized on social media for participating in the article, saying their quotes were taken out of context.

How likely are women going to feel comfortable speaking up after this, when the world seems to be ignoring the fact the UK courts found 12 credible, well-documented examples of his abuse? Especially since Depp fans are now moving on to other targets, like Evan Rachel Wood.  We went from #MeToo and “believe women” to…whatever the hell this is.

Sandra Oh and Julianne Moore will star in an adaptation of Margaret Atwood‘s revenge thriller Stone Mattress. The Lynne Ramsay movie will be set on a cruise ship, where the smooth sailing is disturbed by a shocking crime.

Cara Delevingne, Shirley MacLaine  and Amy Schumer get in on the action in the trailer for season two of Only Murders in the Building.

-I haven’t watched Riverdale since season 1, but are they really doing multiverse stuff? And superpowers???

-At Disney+ upfronts yesterday, people seemed really excited by the short footage shown of the Enchanted sequel (as well as the new Hocus Pocus).

-Meanwhile, while Netflix is hemorrhaging users and laying people off, Disney+ is poised to grab the streaming crown.

-Here’s the first trailer for Jennifer Lopez‘s new documentary Halftime, which will premiere at Tribeca before hitting Netflix on June 14.

-Here’s the trailer for Billy Eichner’s gay rom-com Bros, directed by Nicholas Stoller. Not only does it look great, it features an entirely LGBTQ principal cast — even in the straight characters.
