Maisie Williams’ New Game

maisie williams on the cover of GQ with a green background

-For the cover of GQ Style, Maisie Williams discusses growing up on Game of Thrones (“I think that when I started becoming a woman, I resented Arya because I couldn’t express who I was becoming. And then I also resented my body, because it wasn’t aligned with the piece of me that the world celebrated”) and Pistol, the Danny Boyle-directed series about the origins of the Sex Pistols in 1970s London (“I want to be in this show because I’m the best person to do this, not because I’m the only girl who’ll take her top off”).

Cara Delevingne tells InStyle she always wanted to be a spy because she often examines footprints and is confident she could solve a murder.

-Despite the fact that Magic Mike’s Last Dance has already started filming, Thandiwe Newton has left the production and is being replaced by Salma Hayek. The official word is that Newton stepped away due to “family matters,” but a UK tabloid claims she and Channing Tatum got into an argument about The Slap. (Her spokesperson called the rumour “completely inaccurate.”)

-Speaking of cast shakeups, Frank Langella has been fired as the lead of Mike Flanagan‘s upcoming Netflix show The Fall of the House of Usher, following allegations of on-set misconduct. TMZ reported earlier this week that producers were investigating allegations that the 84-year-old actor made an inappropriate sexual joke and touched a female costar’s leg. (I agree with this take — if Netflix was willing to replace him after production was halfway done, there’s likely more to the story, because recasting and reshooting is going to be wildly expensive.)

Molly Shannon says the late Gary Coleman sexually harassed her during a meeting in the 80s, and it got so relentless that she locked herself in a bathroom.

-Now Michael Cera and Issa Rae have joined the Barbie movie. Who in Hollywood is NOT in it at this point?

-Meanwhile, there’s so much TV dropping right now that Apple is debuting a show called Roar tomorrow from the creators of Glow with Nicole Kidman, Alison Brie, Issa Rae, and more — and it doesn’t feel like anyone’s talking about it. In one episode, Merritt Wever dates a duck!

-Warner Bros is trying to totally rehaul the DC universe. Must be a Thursday.

A marriage therapist testified in the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard defamation case, saying “with Ms. Heard he was triggered and they engaged in what I saw as mutual abuse.”

-I liked this piece on what made the Severance finale work so well.

Michelle Yeoh was on Desus and Mero and convinced them that she could kick their ass.

Arcade Fire just joined the Coachella lineup — the day before the festival starts. They’ll also replace the Foo Fighters at Montreal’s Osheaga.

-The good Amell will join Netflix’s The Witcher in season 3.

-I’m loving that Amazon Prime has picked up some Canadian content, including a “definitive” four-part documentary on the Tragically Hip directed by Gord Downie‘s brother.

-Hacks season two is coming next month, and here’s the first trailer.

Kristen Stewart has boarded Love Lies Bleeding, a romantic thriller for A24. She’ll co-lead as a female bodybuilder’s overprotective girlfriend.

-The first teaser trailer for David Cronenberg’s body horror Crimes of the Future, which will debut at Cannes, stars Viggo Mortensen, Lea Seydoux, Scott Speedman and Kristen Stewart. I like all of those names so much but gonna nope outta this.
