Cole Sprouse Wants to Move on from Riverdale

-I really tried to watch Moonshot, starring Cole Sprouse and Lana Condor, but I could make my way through it. While promoting the movie in GQ, Sprouse was pretty blunt about his feelings for Riverdale, which was just renewed for a seventh season, saying most of the cast are ready to “wrap it up with a bow.” He added, “I’m not a creative force behind [Riverdale]. I actually have no creative control. We show up, receive the scripts often the day of, and we’re asked to shoot.”

Britney Spears says she’s writing a memoir and is taking “the intellectual approach, as Justin so respectfully did when he apologized to Janet and me.” She then pointed out that “he took the opportunity to apologize 20 years later !!! Timing is EVERYTHING !!!”

-I only watched an hour or so of the Grammys last night but it seemed refreshingly…fun? Like, everyone seemed to be having a great time, which has not been the theme of this year’s award season.

-BTS’ V incorporated Olivia Rodrigo into his performance and now everyone’s shipping them.

Doja Cat almost missed picking up her Grammy because she was in the bathroom.

Jack Harlow sounded off on people who have a problem with LGBTQ+ people, especially Lil Nas X, creating hip hop music.

-On Friday night, Will Smith resigned from the Academy (which means he can no longer vote on nominees, but he can still be nominated). You’d think this would be the end of it, but now he’s starting to lose work. Netflix has backed away from developing an action movie called Fast and Loose with him, and Bad Boys 4, which was in active development, has been paused.

-Good on Morbius director Daniel Espinosa for having the guts to do this interview after the terrible, terrible reviews had come out. He confirmed a rumor that Jared Leto made crew members push him to the bathroom in a wheelchair because his character has chronic pain and he’s method. (Espinosa was very nice about  it, saying “Hey, man, it’s people’s processes.”) But COME ON!

-Meanwhile, despite being ravaged by critics, Morbius met expectations at the box office and brought in a little less than $40 million domestically.

Kanye West just pulled out of Coachella — leaving the festival without a closing night headliner the week before it’s scheduled to start. Travis Scott was reportedly supposed to appear during his set, so he’s out too.

-I didn’t know much about Jerrod Carmichael before he hosted this weekend’s SNL (I’d only seen a few episodes of The Carmichael Show) but damn, this is a near perfect monologue. Excellent timing, doesn’t punch down, and he figured out a way to talk about what everyone wanted him to talk about without actually talking about it.

-This is a very cute TikTok featuring the Bridgerton cast.

-Taron Egerton has quit the West End show he’s starring in with Jonathan Bailey for ‘personal reasons’ after missing a bunch of performances following his onstage collapse and Covid battle.

-Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk says he’s working on a “more violent” movie called — wait for it — Killing Old People Club. Gee, I wonder what it’s going to be about?

-This is a really interesting read on the growing, lucrative (and secretive) private-gig industry that musicians are cashing in on.

-Here’s the new trailer for the Bob’s Burgers movie.
