Robert Pattinson Gets Raves for The Batman

-The embargo for The Batman lifted today and the reviews are mostly positive (though “overlong” and “oppressively dark” come up repeatedly). But critics seem unanimous in their praise for Robert Pattinson.

-The film is targeting a heroic $100 million-plus box office debut.

Benedict Cumberbatch received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today, and J.J. Abrams was one of the people to pay tribute at the ceremony. “Beyond being one of our finest actors, he’s thoroughly decent… He’s annoying. Why? Because he’s also great looking, has a brilliant mind. He’s from esteemed lineage, or some shit.”

-Andrew Garfield and girlfriend Alyssa Miller made their red carpet debut at the SAG Awards.

-Last night, Squid Game took home three SAG awards, leading all series and becoming the first non-English language series to take home acting prizes. On the film side, CODA did well.

-I really liked Squid Game star HoYeon Jung‘s SAG Awards dress and traditional hair ribbon.

Michael Keaton, who won for Dopesick, gave the night’s best speech — rolling onto the stage after running in from the bathroom, voicing his support for Ukraine, and paying tribute to his nephew, who he lost to drugs.

Brad Pitt‘s company Plan B has reportedly come aboard to produce Beetlejuice 2 with original stars Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder reprising their roles.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky attended the Gucci fashion show in Milan — and looked amazing.

Javon Walton, who plays Ash on Euphoria, talked to Esquire about last night’s season finale.

-I know people are upset by the fact that the finale didn’t answer any questions that the season had set up, but I was more disappointed by how chaotic these last few episodes ended up being. They threw the kitchen sink at us, despite the finale’s most affecting scenes being the quiet ones (Elliot singing Rue a song, Lexi and Rue reconnecting, etc.)  This review nails it: “Euphoria perhaps has always needed a little bit of restraint, and the finale proved how exhausting it can feel when it refuses to hold back at all when it probably should.”

Timothy Hutton is suing Leverage for dropping him from the revival.

-Ukrainian-born former ‘Dancing With the Stars’ pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy was arrested and released in his home country during the ongoing Russian invasion, and is now making plans to leave Kyiv.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are matching donations up to $1M for Ukrainian refugees.

Eddie Vedder says he’s recovering from a brutal bout of covid. “I got the COVID right before we were supposed to start practicing, probably five, six weeks ago, and literally saw my life flash in front of my eyes…It was, it felt pretty serious.”

-Canadian comedian Russell Peters got married in Laguna Beach in a ceremony presided by Cedric The Entertainer. Deborah Cox performed.

-HBO confirmed that Jennifer Coolidge is officially the lead in season 2 of The White Lotus. Yessss!!!
