Precious Lee and Hailey Bieber Cover Harper’s Bazaar

-The May Beauty issue of Harper’s Bazaar features Precious Lee (photographed by Renell Medrano) and Hailey Bieber (photographed by Amy Troost).

-In case you missed the Oscars last night (and judging by the ratings, many of you did), the biggest clips to watch are Daniel Kaluuya’s mom and sister reacting to the part of his speech where he said “Life’s incredible! My mom met my dad. They had sex. It’s amazing!”, Glenn Close knowing the moves to “Da Butt”, and Yuh-Jung Yoon starting her acceptance speech by addressing her presenter (and Minari producer) Brad Pitt with “Mr. Brad Pitt, finally. Nice to meet you. Where were you when we were filming in person?”

-The weirdest thing about the ceremony (besides it starting strong and then limping to the finish), was that they didn’t announce the Best Picture winner last like usual. Instead, that honour went to Best Actor — who turned out to be Anthony Hopkins, who didn’t show up. The theory is the producers assumed Chadwick Boseman would win posthumously and the show would end on an emotional high, but instead it came to an abrupt and anticlimactic finish that seemed to undercut Nomadland’s historic Best Picture win.

Hopkins released a belated acceptance speech that tribute to Boseman. Apparently, Olivia Colman was meant to accept Hopkins’ award for Best Actor if he won — and everyone is blaming Joaquin Phoenix for instead saying “we accept the award on his behalf” and shutting it down.

Another weird decision was to barely show any clips of the nominated films and performances. It felt like the wrong move, especially since most of these films have been barely seen by the general public. I’m sure if they had shown a clip when Sound of Metal won for Best Sound, for example, it would have intrigued people enough to seek it out.

-Fashion-wise, my pick for best dressed was Zendaya, with Regina King coming in a close second. 9-year-old Minari actor Alan Kim also got points for channeling David Rose.

Aaron Sorkin attended the Oscars with 80s model Paulina Porizkova, sparking dating rumours.

-The Daily Mail has the first photos of Pete Davidson with Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor. Looks like they’re bonding over groceries and hideous style.

-The filmmakers behind the Framing Britney Spears documentary have now set their sights on Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl fiasco. Justice for Janet!

-Over 30 former employees at Scott Rudin‘s production company spoke to Vulture and described a workplace of relentless abuse, intimidation, and bullying.

-SNL announced that Elon Musk would be hosting on May 8, and the reaction was immediately negative. Even cast members Bowen Yang and Andrew Dismukes appeared to throw shade at the announcement.

-The finale for The Falcon and the Winter Solider was not great, huh?

-Ellen DeGeneres is mocking the NFT trend by trying to sell a selfie of her holding original artwork of a cat, which she’s calling “Woman With Stick Cat,” but you just know it’ll fetch buckets of money. At least she’s donating it to Chef José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen.

-Here’s the first trailer for Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers, adapted from the book by Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty. It stars Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Bobby Cannavale, Manny Jacinto, Regina Hall and Michael Shannon.

-Netflix released the trailer for season three of Master of None, which focuses on Denise (Lena Waithe) and her relationship with Alicia (Naomi Ackie).

-The first trailer for Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story, starring Ansel Elgort as Tony and Rachel Zegler as Maria, has arrived.

Elizabeth Olsen Won’t Return to Instagram

Elizabeth-Olsen-Glamour-UK

Elizabeth Olsen is on the (unflattering) cover of Glamour UK digital, and says she has no plans to return to Instagram (“I’m never going back to social media. And it’s not even like I was bullied. [I thought] Wait, why am I even trying to create a character version of myself and put it out in the world?”), she didn’t always want to be an actor (“I thought I was going to be on Wall Street. I don’t know what I wanted, I was just good at math”), and reveals the career advice she got from her famous sisters (“The word ‘No’ specifically was something that I remember my sisters isolating and it becoming really empowering. And for women, it’s a really empowering word. People say ‘Just say no to drugs’, but truly, you can just say no whenever the hell you want! It’s really a powerful thing”).

-Ruh roh. Jennifer Lopez has been “leaning on Marc Anthony” since her split, according to People.

-The Queen reportedly Facetimed with Meghan Markle and Archie before the funeral.

-Meanwhile, The Cambridge family released a new photo of Prince Louis on his way to his first day of nursery school to mark his 3rd birthday. Such a cutie.

-The crazy thing about Oscar predictions is that I literally have no clue how most of it is going to shake out. Not to mention there’s probably never been a year where there’s been less familiarity from the general public for the nominated performances/movies.

-Despite the historically low viewership of every awards ceremony so far this year, ABC has sold out ad inventory for the Oscars.

-I really like this review of Mare of Easttown. I was worried it would be too Broadchurch-y for me to want to watch right now, but it’s not just another grim murder show.

-The popular blogger Reality Steve is creating his own drama. He’s apologized after Demi Burnett accused him of making unwanted sexual advances.

Paris Jackson will star in the next season of American Horror Story.

-Speaking of famous offspring, Madonna‘s daughter Lourdes Leon got the Vanity Fair treatment. She’s gorgeous!

-Wow, the BBC is going to try to adapt Kate Atkinson’s Life After Life. Great book, but that’ll be a challenge.

-Speaking of adaptations, Dakota Johnson is set to star in Persuasion for Netflix and I’m here for it.

Wanda Sykes and Kim Fields star in the upcoming Netflix series, The Upshaws.

Selma Blair Is a Survivor

Selma-Blair

-In her Town & Country interview, Selma Blair talks about living with multiple sclerosis, and the power of makeup (“Makeup is not trivial to me. If anything moves the needle for me in my life—even before my diagnosis or challenges—it is my gorgeous war paint…I don’t mind if my muscles get caught at the intersection of a slow brain signal. I just want those words to come from lips covered in Chanel gloss”).

-In news no one was expecting: How I Met Your Mother is getting a spinoff on Hulu called How I Met Your Father, starring Hilary Duff.

Prince Harry and the Queen reportedly spoke privately on at least two different occasions while he was home for the funeral of Prince Philip.

-Meanwhile, Harry is now back in LA.

Zac Efron (who is currently filming in Toronto) and his Australian girlfriend Vanessa Valladares have reportedly split after 10 months of dating.

-Speaking of splits, Jennifer Lopez‘s camp is saying she broke it off with ARod because she could no longer trust him.

-I’m so glad Shadow and Bones (which hits Netflix this Friday) is getting such glowing reviews — it’s 93% on RottenTomatoes. “Game of Thrones meets your fave CW show” sounds like perfection. I thought the original trilogy was pretty good but then ended up reading the other series, Six of Crows, since the show will also feature those characters too, and that series was amazing. I’m not surprised that the Crows segments (which are less magic-y and more heist-y), seem to be getting the most attention. I’m also very glad the show retained all the shipper goodness.

-Odd couple Lucy Hale and Skeet Ulrich are an odd couple no more.

Robert De Niro‘s lawyers claim he’s working at an unsustainable pace in order to support his estranged wife. He’s also suing a former employee.

-Though the popular assumption online is that there’s some sabotage via glam going on backstage, The View hairstylist says that her intentions are pure and not at all passive-aggressive.

-A new season of Master of None is coming in May. I loved that show, but I’m not sure how I feel about seeing more Aziz, though this season will reportedly focus on Lena Waithe’s character, Denise.
