Miley Cyrus’ Sad House Party

Miley Cyrus‘ walks through the depressing remains of a house party that’s winding down in the new “Slide Away” video.

-Twitter can’t stop talking about Timothee Chalamet and Lily Rose Depp‘s incredibly awkward kiss.

Hailee Steinfeld is in talks to play the lead role opposite Jeremy Renner in Disney+’s upcoming Hawkeye series. I’m surprised by how well this news seems to be going over on Twitter (especially among critics). Is she a lowkey Hollywood darling?

-I secretly love Medieval Times, so I’m got a lot of secondhand delight from watching Post Malone and Jimmy Fallon battle at one.

Prince Andrew continues to implode before our eyes — but apparently we’re only supposed to care that Meghan Markle went to the US Open.

Hayley Atwell joining Tom Cruise in next Mission: Impossible movie is fantasy casting for me.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Hot Priest gave out gin in a tin to people in line outside the Fleabag theatre this weekend.

-I’m not sure about Joker based on all the reviews. Do we really need a sympathetic origin story about a nice-guy-turned-mas- murderer right now? This tweet nails where my head’s at.

Joaquin Phoenix, who is in town for TIFF with Joker, made an appearance at St. George subway station today in support of an animal justice campaign “BeFairBeVegan.” He wouldn’t comment to reporters, though.

-Weird. Variety dubbed a video of Hustlers director Lorene Scafaria talking about how Fiona Apple is donating the money she earns from her song appearing in the film to refugees (the video Variety initially posted replaced the word “refugees” with “the movie”). After being called out, they reposted the video and called it a “glitch.”

-I really like this interview clip with Kristen Stewart on what sort of reactions she’s gotten since saying she was warned that she’d never get a Marvel movie if she came out. (I spotted her in the audience on Friday night with her gf at Jason Segel‘s film The Friend, which I don’t think she has a connection to.)

-I’m having a ridiculously good TIFF. Seven movies so far and none that I’ve hated. And I haven’t seen them yet, but people are losing their crap about how good Hustlers and Knives Out are. The only obvious flop so far: Nicole Kidman’s The Goldfinch.

-People also really loved The Lighthouse with Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe. The compliment I keep hearing is that it’s endlessly quotable (which you wouldn’t know from this trailer).
