Lin-Manuel Miranda Is an Unstoppable Force

lin-manuel-vanity-fair

Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s cover profile in Vanity Fair makes him seem even nicer than you thought — which shouldn’t be possible.

-Royal dramaz! A new report claims that the drama-filled run-up to Meghan Markle‘s wedding, Kate Middleton was left in tears after an argument over Princess Charlotte’s dress.

-I kind of like that Taylor Swift is with someone who refuses to talk about her  in the press. When pressed about her in his GQ profile, Joe Alwyn responded “Someone’s private life is, by definition, private. No one is obliged to share their personal life.” Bad for gossip, but good for her.

-It’s starting to make more and more sense why Kim Cattrall didn’t want to do a third Sex and the City movie — Samantha’s main storyline reportedly revolved around Miranda’s 14-year-old son Brady lusting after her. Also, Mr. Big was supposedly going to die of a heart attack at the beginning of the movie, making it more about Carrie’s grief than the relationship between the four women. All in all, it sounds like she was smart to bow out, even if it turned her into the bad guy in the press.

David Beckham is getting some heat on Instagram for kissing his daughter (because people are the WORST), and Tom Brady has jumped to his defense.

Ariana Grande’s “thank u next” video will pay homage to Mean Girls and I can’t wait!

Adam Levine says he understands women because he has daughters. Oh well, OK THEN!

-I love this piece on Matthew Macfadyen. The fact that the douche on Succession is the same guy who played Mr Darcy still blows my mind.

Jaden Smith says he’s dating Tyler, The Creator. I mean, sometimes I say I’m dating Idris Elba, but that doesn’t make it true.

-Unlike her fellow creators, Ava DuVernay didn’t go the Netflix route. Instead, she’s signed a $100M deal with Warner Bros TV.

-In news that should surprise no one but delight everyone, a To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel is officially in the works.

-Amazon is pulling out the big guns for their Modern Love TV show. The cast includes Anne Hathaway, Dev Patel, Tina Fey, John Slattery, Catherine Keener, Andy Garcia, and Cristin Milioti.

Ethan Hawke gave a rousing speech at the Gotham Awards. “We are living in a time period where the environment, education, racial equality … they are being criminally disregarded. It’s a real problem. It’s unacceptable.”

-Green Book flopped hard at the box office. I wonder what that will do to its Oscar buzz?

-Yeah ok, I laughed at the red band trailer for What Men Want.

Shawn Mendes Addresses Sexuality, Hailey Baldwin

shawn-mendes-gay

-In his new Rolling Stone cover story, Shawn Mendes says his relationship with Hailey Baldwin wasn’t as platonic as he first implied. “I don’t even want to put a title on it. I think it was more of a zone of limbo…She’s still one of the f–king coolest people ever — she’s not just a beautiful person visually, but she’s one of the most beautiful hearts I’ve ever met.” He also talks about how the gay rumours stress him out, and how he watching his interviews to analyze his voice and his body language: “In the back of my heart, I feel like I need to go be seen with someone — like a girl — in public, to prove to people that I’m not gay. Even though in my heart I know that it’s not a bad thing. There’s still a piece of me that thinks that. And I hate that side of me.” Ugh. Leave the poor kid alone.

-We truly are living in a golden age of celebrity profiles. This feature on Lena Dunham by Allison P. Davis is breathtakingly good.  I didn’t really think I’d want to read anything more about her, but this is not a fawning, laudatory profile. Davis goes deep (addressing the frequent criticisms thrown Dunham’s way, the rumours that she is a bad pet owner, her stumbles over race, etc), and the result is an article that makes you both sympathize with her as you’re rolling your eyes at her. My fave part: “As she texts me increasingly intimate details that she knows I’ll put in this article, as if she were trying to be the director of her own candid, sympathy-generating magazine story, I begin to wonder if Lena Dunham, the performance artist daring us to hate her, is the work.”

Meek Mills penned a powerful op-ed on prisoner rights reform for the NYT.

Amanda Bynes is on the cover of Paper and seems to be doing legitimately well, which makes me happy. She talks about fighting to cast Channing Tatum in She’s The Man, and admits her drug use started by getting hooked on Adderall because she’d read in a magazine that it keeps you skinny.

-I do not understand how the US just had the largest Thanksgiving box office on record, and yet Widows flopped. It’s so, so good!

-This is sad: Oprah‘s mom died on Thanskgiving at 83.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonaspre-wedding festivities have begun.

-I’m actually surprised it took this long for the ‘is Green Book woke enough?’ thinkpieces to come out.

-No, Rihanana. No!

-Also, here’s our first peek at Rihanna and Donald Glover‘s mystery project “Guava Island.

-The conscious uncoupling is still going strong. Dakota Johnson spent Thanksgiving with Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow and their kids.

-Ooh boy, Amber Heard‘s outfit at the Aquaman premiere was a bit too on the nose.

-Meanwhile, I’m pleasantly shocked that the initial reaction to Aquaman from critics is so overwhelmingly positive.

-I don’t know how I keep falling for these Zac Efron thirst traps but I really don’t hate them…

Guillermo del Toro shared on Twitter a massive list of screenplays he’s been working on that still haven’t been produced.

-This woman’s fake missed connection about Michael B Jordan is going viral and I’m so proud of her!

Chris Pine and Patty Jenkins‘ TNT miniseries I Am the Night will be released in January.

John Legend Backs Up Rita Ora

-People are still really angry about the Rita Ora lipsyncing thing, so much so that John Legend had to jump to her defense.

-In a new IG post, Justin Bieber says he’s celebrating his first Thanksgiving “as a married man.” Meanwhile, his mom posted videos from Hailey Baldwin’s birthday party.

-Meanwhile, Ariana Grande used her Thanksgiving post to pay tribute to the late Mac Miller.

-Here’s a peek at other stars’ Thanksgiving celebrations.

-Look, I don’t believe most of the stuff on CDAN. But that doesn’t mean I don’t devour his Black Friday reveals every year.

Cam’ron is dissing Kanye West in a scathing new track.

-Wow, people are already hinting that Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger are getting engaged soon? That’s so fast!

Jada Pinkett Smith says she’s “not mature enough” to divorce Will “because when you have to start going in, breaking up assets, that right there…” Who says romance is dead?!

-Oof. Pirates of the Caribbean screenwriter Terry Rossio may have just tweeted himself out of a career with this vaccine post.

Gina Rodriguez is getting flack for saying that black actresses get paid more than Asian and Latina actresses. This isn’t the first time she’s seemed to step in it when it comes to talking about black women.

Nicole Kidman says hubby Keith Urban wasn’t a fan of her Destroyer character. “The character had to seep out of my pores and I didn’t know how to perform that, so I just had to live it. I was a bit of a nightmare!”

-She also talked about joining Instagram and posting about the giant spider she found by her pool in LA.

-I kind of love that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are still going strong.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might move away from Will and Kate to set up a home in Windsor instead.

-Have you watched the viral short about a guy counting down the days till xmas that’s making everyone cry today?
