Ocean’s 8 Cast Takes Over the Met

-The Ocean’s 8 press tour kicked off today (at the Met, which is perfect) and I am here for all the fabulous pantsuits.  Early estimates for its June 8th opening are strong.

Ariana Grande is reportedly dating Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson. I’m surprised that they’re both 24 (I thought she was way younger, and he was way older). I dig it, though. “It’s very casual” sources tell People.

-At the royal wedding, George Clooney reportedly hopped behind the bar and served tequila. He knows he doesn’t have to shill for Casamigos anymore, right?

-Meanwhile, Prince Charles‘ speech reportedly made everyone cry, while Prince William made fun of Harry‘s imminent bald patch and said “My brother is clearly in love. Being in love is like a little boy wetting himself. You don’t know you are doing it, everyone else knows and you get a warm feeling.”

-Meghan and Harry made their first public appearance as a married couple today, and the stockings really bummed me out. I was really hoping that she would somehow find a way to get around that rule…

-Talk about an upgrade: Avril Lavigne is dating a billionaire.

Vito Schnabel continues to punch above his weight when it comes to relationships. He previously dated Heidi Klum, Demi Moore, Elle Macpherson, and Liv Tyler, and now he’s reportedly with Amber Heard.

-Heard’s most recent ex, Elon Musk, is dating Grimes, who took to Twitter to defend him against rumours that he prevented his Tesla workers from unionizing.

Hugh Grant, 57, is walking down the aisle for the first time, and his fiancee is a surprisingly respectable 39! They have three kids.

-The new Arrested Development season is getting way better reviews than the last one and reportedly “feels like the show you remember.” Thank god.

-This TV season continues to be wild. Lucifer is still cancelled (so far) but Fox announced they will air two “bonus” episodes this month. Meanwhile, it looks like Amazon may swoop in to save the recently canceled The Expanse. But even rumours of a Will Ferrell role, a new showrunner and a switch to multicam couldn’t save Fox’s comedy LA to Vegas.

-Also wild: UnREAL will likely end with season four, which will air FIRST on Hulu rather than Lifetime.

-More wildin’: Barack and Michelle Obama have entered into a multi-year agreement to produce films and series for Netflix.

Kelly Clarkson opened the Billboard Music Awards by saying she was sick of moments of silence and demanding a moment of action.

R. Kelly is being accused of sexual battery, false imprisonment, and transmitting a sexual disease in a new lawsuit.

This video is very old but I’ve never seen it before and it made me kind of fall in love with Robert Downey Jr.

-I really liked Spider Man: Homecoming so I’m very here for the news that Jake Gyllenhaal will play the villainous Mysterio in the sequel.

-I saw Deadpool 2 this weekend. It was good but I am already in superhero movie fatigue and it’s only May. Judging by it’s lower than expected box office results, I’m not the only one.

-This newly released old image from Rolling Stone’s Chris Evans photo shoot saved my weekend.

Asia Argento spoke at the Cannes closing ceremony: “In 1997, I was raped by Harvey Weinstein here at Cannes. I was 21 years old. This festival was his hunting ground.” She says after her fiery speech, Spike Lee was the “the only person who came up to me, congratulated and spoke kind words to me.”

Johnny Depp plays a cop investigating Biggie Smalls’ murder in the City of Lies trailer. I am negative interested in this.

Meghan Markle’s Suits Costars Are Living the Dream

-Royal wedding fever is in full swing. I love this interview with Meghan Markle’s Suits costars, who look like they can’t actually believe they’re in London for the wedding.

Jeffrey Tambor happily walked the red carpet with his happy costars at the Arrested Development premiere. Ok.

-Dave Matthews Band’s longtime violinist Boyd Tinsley has denied sexual misconduct allegations by his former Crystal Garden bandmate James Frost-Winn. Winn says he made unwanted sexual advances and comments toward him, and spent years “grooming” him.

-I haven’t seen Deadpool 2 yet but it’s probably not a great sign that the writers are having to defend their treatment of the female characters.

-Hmmm. Roseanne’s co-showrunner Whitney Cummings has left the show.

-I’m intrigued by Jennifer Aniston‘s new Netflix series, in which she’ll play the first female president, with Tig Notaro playing her wife.

-Huh. Netflix left Cannes almost empty-handed as their deals got turned down by multiple filmmakers, despite trying to throw wads of money at them.

Jimmy Fallon played “What’s Behind Me?” with Tina Fey, which somehow involved recreating the Ghost pottery scene.

SZA canoodles with Donald Glover in her new music video for “Garden (Say It Like Dat).”

Jack Osbourne‘s wife has filed for divorce after six years of marriage.

Halle Berry looks great but she likes kettle bells way more than I do.

Timothée Chalamet is coming for that Oscar in the Beautiful Boy trailer, costarring Steve Carrell.

Shock and Awe is the latest Oscar-baiting newspaper drama. This one stars Woody Harrelson and James Marsden as reporters chasing down a scoop that the Bush administration prematurely decided to go to war.

Melissa McCarthy stars in The Happytime Murders, an upcoming hard R-rated murder mystery set in a world where humans and puppets co-exist. Here’s the profane trailer:

Michael B Jordan Covers Essence

michael-b-jordan-essence-cover

-It’s been one of those weeks where I thought it was Friday every day (it was really not), so this Michael B. Jordan cover couldn’t have come at a better time. He dismisses rumours that he doesn’t date black women: “It’s so funny to everybody because it couldn’t be further from the truth. My dad and my mom both said, ‘If they only knew.’ If they only knew. And that’s the thing that keeps me not tripping about it, you know what I mean?”

-Speaking of good covers,  Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, and Sarah Silverman cover the GQ comedy issue — and the photo pokes fun at Vanity Fair’s recent cover fail.

-MTV has suspended production on Catfish because Nev Schulman has been accused of sexual misconduct. In a YouTube video, a woman who appeared in a season 4 episode accused Schulman and an unnamed female producer of harassment and assault. He’s denied it, saying “The behavior described in this video did not happen.”

-Congrats to Chrissy Teigen, who had baby number 2.

Meghan Markle released a statement that her father will not be attending the wedding. I’m still not convinced.

Gillian Anderson will star as a sex therapist in a new Netflix series and I’m totally here for it.

-Six months ago, Mo Ryan broke the story that NCIS NOLA showrunner Brad Kern had been the subject of numerous HR complaints. CBS now says Kern is no longer showrunning, but he’s still a “consultant.”

-I’m sad that they’re all ending, but I’m really glad that the CW is giving iZombie, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane The Virgin a chance to end on their own terms and plan their final runs. Too bad that Jane isn’t coming back until mid-season, though. So long to wait after that huge finale twist!

-Now that the upfronts are over, here are the trailers for all the new broadcast shows debuting this fall. Medical drama New Amersterdam seems to be NBC’s biggest bet because it landed the coveted post-This Is Us timeslot, The Passage on Fox might be decent (I liked the book and anything that puts Mark-Paul Gosselaar back on my TV is tops), critics really seemed to like what they saw of Leighton Meester’s Single Parents, and on the CW the Charmed trailer actually looks…good? It’s from the Jane the Virgin showrunner so suddenly I have high hopes.

-CW’s next superhero show crossover will feature Batwoman and the city of Gotham. Huh.

-I love Buzzfeed’s ode to Winston on New Girl. He was such a perfect weirdo.

-Stop claiming that fictional characters have different sexual orientations than what is actually seen onscreen, writers. That’s not representation, that’s just pretending to have representation. It doesn’t count.

-Why even ask John Travolta about his thoughts on Me Too? Like, why is he even relevant to the discussion?

-Ditto for Lee Daniels.

-I adored Zombieland so I’m very psyched by the news that a sequel with the original cast is slated for next year. Between this and Jordan Peele executive producing a show about vengeance-driven Nazi hunters for Amazon, it’s a good time for zombies.

-The red-band trailer for Sorry to Bother You has arrived. Oh yes.
