Kevin Spacey Tries to Deflect, The Internet’s Not Having It

-Wow, Hollywood is imploding. I really thought the Weinstein scandal would make waves for a couple of weeks and then fade away, allowing everyone to return to business as usual but the opposite has happened: the floodgates have opened. The latest big star to washed away in the wave is Kevin Spacey. Last night, Buzzfeed released an interview with Anthony Rapp (a Broadway vet who is currently starring in Star Trek Discovery), in which Rapp says Spacey climbed on top of him in bed when Rapp was just 14. Spacey, who clearly had time to craft a response as Buzzfeed made it clear they repeatedly reached out for comment, responded with a calculated, bullshit statement about how he must have been drunk and oh btw, he’s gay. And of course, his long-awaited coming out is what a lot of headlines focused on today, overshadowing the assault claim. A lot of people much smarter than I am wrote about how his coming out grossly conflates homosexuality with pedophilia. Read their takes here, here, here, and here.

-Meanwhile, Netflix announced that the new season of House of Cards will be its final (though this decision was likely made well before its main star’s life blew up.)

-The mighty keep falling: Lionsgate exec Andrew Kramer has exited amid harassment allegations.

-Also breaking this weekend: Ronan Farrow‘s latest Weinstein story, which includes new, disturbing accusations from Annabella Sciorra and Daryl Hannah.  The NYT also dropped a powerful portrait of Rose McGowan, who alleges Harvey Weinstein offered $1M in hush money. More women have come forward with Weistein allegations and the NYT is now reporting the assault allegations go back to the 1970s. The timeline is now four decades long.

-Have you watch the second season of Stranger Things yet? If felt like the entire world already finished it. The show broke Twitter records over the weekend.

-Speaking of Stranger Things, I love when actors really lean into a ship.

-The Bad Moms cast is making the rounds on the sequel’s press tour (I’ve already bought my tickets!) and Kristen Bell shared a video of Mila Kunis crushing it on Price Is Right.

Kristen Bell and Gwyneth Paltrow both hilariously mocked their own movies with their Halloween costumes. I have never liked either of them more.

Nina Dobrev, I expected more from you. Hollywood, repeat after me: “culture is not a costume.”

-Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian dressed as Aaliyah for Halloween – and the Internet is not pleased.

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have called it quits after nearly 10 months together– and there’s talk that she’s reconnected with Justin Bieber.

-Also, Selena and her BFF who gave her a kidney were interviewed on the Today Show, and things got teary.

Mick Jagger, 74, stepped out in Paris with his ‘new love interest’, who is 22. That’s swell.

-At 96% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, Thor: Ragnarok is currently the MCU’s highest rated film.

-A new X Files promo dropped this weekend. I can’t believe I’m letting myself get sucked back in…
