-A photo of a wet Ryan Gosling is the best way to start the week, no? In his new GQ interview, he talks about Justin Trudeau, getting punched in the face by Harrison Ford, having an uncle who was also an Elvis impersonator, and his family life (“Eva’s the dream mother, and they’re dream babies, and it’s like a dream that I’m having right now. I’m dreaming it all. So I feel so lucky.”)
-Last week Brad Pitt tried to get the custody agreement docs sealed, but couldn’t because Angelina Jolie filed them publicly— so that we could all read them. In the docs, Pitt’s lawyers complain that he’s not getting the access to the kids that he was promised, while her lawyers say it’s up to the therapists’ recommendations.
-Suits star Patrick J. Adams married Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario this weekend, and they posted pics from the whole weekend on Instagram. I usually wish that stars showed a little more discretion but I can’t help but appreciate the fact that he also documented his entire week-long bachelor party, which seemed to be organized by Chris Pine. And is that Zachary Quinto?
-It’s ridiculous to me that Emmy Rossum has to fight for equal pay on Shameless as William H. Macy. She’s always been the lead on that show — both in terms of screentime and most spotlighted character.
–Madonna accepted her Billboard award with a barn-burning speech on sexism and aging. “If you’re a girl, you have to play the game. You’re allowed to be pretty and cute and sexy. But don’t act too smart. Don’t have an opinion that’s out of line with the status quo. You are allowed to be objectified by men and dress like a slut, but don’t own your sluttiness.”
-Everyone on my Twitter TL is talking about this Norwegian TV series called Skam. Sigh. I can barely keep up with stuff produced here.
–Selena Gomez landed $10 million endorsement deal with Coach. This is a good fit seeing as the people who still like Coach seem to be the under 25 set.
-I totally blanked on the fact that the Golden Globe nominations came out today. Not too many surprises and snubs IMO — but that’s mostly because I don’t think the Globe noms mean anything. In film, everyone’s talking about how Fences, Hidden Figures, Sully and Martin Scorsese’s Silence failed to earn noms in top categories. On the TV side, there was no love for The Americans, Kimmy Schmidt, Silicon Valley, and Tatiana Maslany.
-Speaking of snubs, 50 Cent is so pissed that they didn’t nominate his show Power that he threatened to quit. In other news, apparently 50 Cent is on a TV show now?
–TJ Miller hosted the Critics Choice Awards last night, but didn’t mention the fact that he was arrested last week for battery after allegedly hitting a ride-share driver after an argument about Donald Trump.
-Meanwhile, the Critics Choice Awards were filled with lots of strange moments (as usual). None were stranger than when Silicon Valley won Best Comedy, and Lakeith Stanfield of Atlanta (which was also nominated in that category), jumped on stage, beating Silicon Valley’s executive producer Tom Lassally to the mic to accept the award.
–Tina Fey gently roasted Trump, Breitbart, and celebrity PSAs in her thank-you speech for The Hollywood Reporter’s Sherry Lansing Award.
–Leonardo DiCaprio met with Trump to try and educate the president-elect on climate change.
-THR’s list of Hollywood’s 50 Favorite Female Characters (as voted on by actors, writers and directors) is pretty damn great. I agree with a lot of their TV picks, including Buffy Summers (#3), Dana Scully (#5), Leslie Knope (#7), Felicity Smoak (#15), and Veronica Mars (#30).
–Amy Schumer got food poisoning in Paris — and she wants you to hear all the icky details.
-The Time Warner CEO admitted that DC movies aren’t great, but says they will probably continue to make them anyway. That’s swell.
–Ryan Murphy‘s staff is 55-60% female and he says it’s made “the product is better. The communication on sets is better.”
-I love that the Angel cast still hang — and even surprised Amy Acker for her birthday.
-The trailer for Spider Man Homecoming landed Friday, and Michael Keaton’s Vulture looks terrifying.
–Charlize Theron is in the new Fast & Furious trailer — and yet somehow they didn’t name the film Fast & Furiosa.
