It wasn’t a perfect site (their Dr V story basically caused a trans woman to commit suicide), but their podcasts and features didn’t just analyze pop culture, they interrogated it and correlated it to what was happening in society at the time. They’re responsible for some of the most entertaining articles I’ve ever read, whether it was a deep-dive into Julia Roberts’ stardom, a story of isolation in Alaska, or a hilarious recap of the best Jeopardy champ of all time. RIP, Grantland.
