Jennifer Lawrence has never been shy about speaking her mind – and now she’s taking on the wage gap in a blistering new op-ed in Lena Dunham’s newsletter titled “Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co‑Stars?”, in which she details her reaction after finding out from the Sony hacks that she made considerably less that her male costars on American Hustle. “I’m over trying to find the ‘adorable’ way to state my opinion and still be likable! F-ck that.” She continues: “A few weeks ago at work, I spoke my mind and gave my opinion in a clear and no-bullshit way; no aggression, just blunt. The man I was working with (actually, he was working for me) said, “Whoa! We’re all on the same team here!” As if I was yelling at him. I was so shocked because nothing that I said was personal, offensive, or, to be honest, wrong. All I hear and see all day are men speaking their opinions, and I give mine in the same exact manner, and you would have thought I had said something offensive.”

-A few hours after truth bombing, JLaw exited The Rosie Project, a Sony movie being directed by Richard Linklater (and based on a book everyone loved a whole lot more than I did).

-Meanwhile, director Mimi Leder talks about going to “movie jail” after Pay It Forward failed to make traction at the box office. “They give a man three more movies and that’s the truth.”

-Speaking of white men who rule Hollywood, this conversation between Bret Easton Ellis and Quentin Tarantino  is full of hateful crap about gender and race. Here are some QT highlights: “When the black critics came out with savage think pieces about Django, I couldn’t have cared less” and “[Ava DuVernay] did a really good job on Selma but Selma deserved an Emmy.” Even his non-offensive opinions are dumb: “[Judd Apatow’s] audiences are getting smaller and smaller but I think he’s getting better and better.]

-Palette cleanser: Charlize Theron may take a role once intended for Brad Pitt.

Victor Garber married boyfriend of 16 years Rainer Andreesen. Congrats, Spy Daddy!

-Following a reported breakup with Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris addressed those “bullshit stories” about a ‘happy ending’ massage.

-What exactly is the vapors? ‘Cause I’m pretty sure this photo of Joshua Jackson just gave me them.

-Is there anything Amy Poehler can’t do? Because she just killed it on this version of “The Rose” with Jack Black.

Johnny Depp always shows up at fan-voted award ceremonies like the People’s Choice Awards, but he won’t show up for the Oscars, so don’t even bother giving him one. (Luckily, his recent movie choices are making that realllll easy.)

-The Flash’s Grant Gustin told a cute story about getting turned away from a party at Comic-Con.

-Speaking of adorable stars of superhero shows, Emily Bett Rickards is a cupcake of cuteness in this interview.

-In other superhero news, Netflix debuted the first episode of Jessica Jones at NY Comic Con, and critics are drooling over it.

-Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has been named Esquire magazine’s Sexiest Woman Alive.

-Costar Naomie Harris insists Daniel Craig was “just being sarcastic” with his James Bond comments.

Martha Stewart‘s shading of Blake Lively is giving me life.

-The new art deco-y trailer foDr The X Files reboot is all kinds of cool. I was travelling this past weekend and ended up watching a few season 1 episodes and I discovered A) how much I completely repressed what a terrible actor David Duchovny is, B) that I can somehow still quote episodes I haven’t seen in 22 years, but can barely remember to pay my cable bill, and C) that I probably am not going to do a rewatch before the reboot — but I am going to make a point of re-watching my favourite episode, which turns 20 today.

-Here’s a new trailer for Brooklyn, which was far and away my favourite movie I saw at TIFF this year.
