The Grammys are never the red carpet you look to when you want couture greatness. The word “classy” isn’t ever really associated with this one. Picking the worst dressed at the Grammys is always a breeze, but the best dressed is always a struggle. Still, I’m giving it a try below. For a full gallery, check out the one I did for MSN Canada here.

BEST

Yes, she stuck to her usual sparkly shtick, but this slinky Gucci might be Taylor Swift’s best showing in ages.

She got a lot of flack on Twitter for flaunting her curves, but I thought this indigo Armani Prive was stunning on Alicia Keys. As Danny Castellano once said, “You’re a woman and that’s good; look like a woman.”

I’m ignoring the arrows pointed to Pink’s va-jay-jay and giving her props for colour and class — two things she has lacked on past Grammy carpets.

Not only did she look stunning, Amber Rose talked about how hard it was to lose her baby weight (she was 9 months pregnant on last year’s red carpet), and it made me kind of love her.

Guys, I’m putting Giuliana Rancic on my best dressed list. I know it was slim pickins’ and all, but still: this is historic!

WORST

Instead of “roar”-ing onto the red carpet, Katy Perry floated in on a cloud of tulle. The music note detailing was probably good on paper, but when she was getting interviewed by E!, they just looked like a weird stain near her crotch. Not a good thing.

Why was Paris Hilton there? Why did she look even more desperate than usual? Why were all the photo agencies flooded with pics of her but I couldn’t find one decent photo of Sara Bareilles, who’s like, an actual nominee?!? I guess the only thing good about this dress is that it’s a slight step up from what she wore earlier in the weekend.

It hurts me to say anything bad about Anna Kendrick so I’m just going to leave this photo right here…

Go home, Paula Patton. You’re drunk.

I actually don’t hate Madonna and her son’s matching Ralph Lauren tuxes, but I just can’t tear my eyes away from her face. What happened to her face?!?
