Miley Cyrus Posts Raunchy Photos, Just In Case You Haven’t Had Your Fill

Miley Cyrus has been posting butt photos on Twitter, so she’s clearly learned her lesson.

-Also, Billy Ray Cyrus is on the board of the Parents Television Council, which is hilarious.

Joshua Jackson is set to play a cowboy on a new Showtime drama. As someone who named her DVR Pacey, this makes me stupidly happy.

-Is anyone weirded out by the fact that Bradley Cooper looks like he’s reading a bedtime story to a child in these photos of him with his new girlfriend? No? Just me? And the book he’s reading is Lolita. COME ON!

-Get ready for a fanfic flood: Demi Lovato will romance Naya Rivera on Glee this season.

-The new Mindy Project promo tries to convince us that James Franco is charming. I’m gonna need more than a 30-second clip to buy that one.

Michael Buble and his wife welcomed new son Noah this morning.

Diddy and J Cole reportedly got into a fight at a VMAs afterparty, and Beyonce and Jay Z tried to break it up because they’re awesome.

-There’s now a video version of “Hank and Marie watch the VMAs” and it is pure happiness.

-I stopped watching American Horror Story early on, but the new cast may change my mind: Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy, Gabourey Sidibe and Patti Lupone.

-The new NIN album is streaming right now on iTunes, if that’s your thing.

-The cast of Bunsheads shot a beautiful farewell dance after learning their show had been cancelled.

-I usually have no opinion on One Direction (because having an opinion about 19-year-old boybanders would creep me out), but you gotta love how they laughed off the shade Taylor Swift was throwing their way at the VMAs.

Kate Middleton looked great when she stepped out for the first time since the big baby reveal. Love that she does her own grocery shopping!

-Another woman has come forward to say she auditioned to be Tom Cruise‘s girlfriend pre-Katie Holmes.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are reportedly being considered to host the Golden Globes again. Lock it down, Hollywood Foreign Press Association! They should be the hosts every year until the end of time!

-I’m not exactly sure what Alexander Skarsgard is saying in this soccer video, but he can lead me in a chant any time.

-Seriously, how cute are Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis? I’m hearing great, great things about her new film, Drinking Buddies.

Donatella Versace thanked Lady Gaga for being name-dropped in her new song by calling out the singer’s “super bitchiness.”

-Whatever’s happening in their marriage, Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom are reportedly keeping in touch.

George Clooney and Sandra Bullock have arrived in Venice for the film festival. It doesn’t even bug me that he’s wearing a t-shirt promoting his tequila brand, ’cause he looks soo good! I got to pick my TIFF films yesterday, and even though I had priority access, Gravity was already sold out. (I knew we were screwed when TIFF programmer Cameron Bailey said on the radio that it was the one movie he would recommend to everyone.)

-Speaking of movies coming to TIFF, I passed on the Dallas Buyers Club because it was in a weird time slot. Now the trailer is out and I’m regretting my decision. If you thought Matthew McConaughey was unrecognizable, wait ’till you see Jared Leto. That voice!

MTV VMAs Get Ratings Boost Thanks To Miley Cyrus, ‘N Sync

-All that twerking helped the VMAs score big ratings last night.

-Everyone’s still talking about Miley Cyrus‘ desperate performance (as well as Will Smith and Taylor Swift’s reactions to said twerkfest  — though Smith might have been reacting to Gaga instead). Vulture posted a pretty great analysis of Miley’s performance, saying it wasn’t about sex, it was about race and calling her ratchet display a “minstrel show“. It’s an interesting point of view, but I think they’re giving Miley too much credit. I’m guessing her thought process went something along the lines of “tongue = good; clothes = bad.”

-Meanwhile, Miley‘s manager says her “evolution” is “healthy” and “organic.” In case you didn’t know, this is the same guy who used to manage Britney Spears, so…yeah.

-Also, the Onion hilariously predicted Miley’s VMA performance back in 2008.

Miley found time to drop a new single amid all the grossness.

-Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson deemed a couple VMA performers “pitchy strippers,” making me love her even more.

-In other VMA news, Jessica Biel didn’t show up to the ceremony, but Justin Timberlake at least let her attend the afterparty (in a super unflattering dress, but still).

Ellie Goulding is rumoured to be dating One Direction’s Niall Horan, but that didn’t stop her from getting handsy with Ed Sheeran during the VMAs. She later pooped the gossip party by tweeting that they’re just “friends.”

Taylor Swift may have mouthed STFU during the ceremony at Harry Styles, but the exes made nice at a VMAs afterparty.

-Also last night, One Direction got booed for winning the Song of the Summer, and Lady Gaga was having none of it.

Anna Gunn wrote a great op-ed piece in the New York Times about fans’ hatred of her Breaking Bad character, and how such vitriol only seems to rain on female characters.

-Speaking of Breaking Bad, last night’s ep gave me a mad case of the OMGs.

-For those of you who just couldn’t sit through Low Winter Sun last night, here’s the Walking Dead sneak peek that aired during the commercial break.

-The other big entertainment event that happened last night was the taping of James Franco‘s Comedy Central roast. So just how many gay jokes were there? Not surprisingly, a LOT. (And here’s a selection of the non-gay jokes, in case you’re wondering what else they teased him about.)

Chris Brown keeps tweeting about how he’s ready to be “a leader.” He better be talking about the comic book character, or else we’re all in trouble!

Jenny McCarthy is gearing up for her View debut by trotting boyfriend Donnie Wahlberg out on red carpets.

-The Lamar Odom saga has taken a dark, disturbing turn. Khloe Kardashian reportedly separated from him after a failed intervention last week, and now comes reports that he spent the last few days in a hotel room where friends “are trying to get him help for unspecified drug problem.” Khole is the only Kardashian I find tolerable; I hope it all works out for them.

Joss Whedon has defended Ben Affleck being cast as Batman, so I guess we should all just shut up now and bow down to his nerd judgement. Bryan Cranston has reportedly already signed on to play Lex Luthor, so I’m already on board.

-Even Lindsay Lohan isn’t immune to auto-correct fails.

Kate Gosselin is reportedly suing ex-husband Jon for millions, claiming he hacked into her computer, bank accounts and phone lines and used what he found to publish a tell-all book about her. Glad to see some things never change.

-Looks like someone can afford a new pair of grills! Forbes just named Madonna the highest paid celebrity of 2013.

-This might be a little too “inside baseball” for most, but the feud between Nikki Finke and her boss is riveting stuff in the gossip world.

George Clooney starts filming his new movie Tomorrowland in Vancouver this week. Is this why he can’t make it to TIFF? *pout*

Brad Pitt (who’s also not scheduled to attend his TIFF premiere – WTF?) and Angelina Jolie were reportedly in Canada recently scouting locations for her new film, and they took a break to enjoy a daredevil date at a racetrack.

Kevin Spacey had some tough talk for TV network execs. I spent a lot of time vigorously nodding while listening to this.

-The Church of Scientology held a big gala this weekend, which served as a reminder that people who otherwise seem pretty awesome (like Laura Prepon and Erika Christensen) are members.

-A bunch of directors, including Edgar Wright, James Ponsoldt, and Lynn Shelton, started tweeting nice things about each other last night, and it quickly devolved into a “Twitter group hug,” which was kind of adorable.

Arcade Fire will be doing…something…to promote their upcoming album on Sept. 9 at 9pm. Smack in the middle of TIFF, so that’s just swell.

Scarlett Johansson plays a tease in the new trailer for Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s Don Jon.

-Speaking of trailers, the first one for Divergent premiered last night. I’m loving Kate Winslet as Jeanine in this!

Kanye West Shows Off Baby North on TV

kanye-west-kim-kardashian-baby-north

-Alright, Kanye West, I’ll give it to you. Your baby is pretty damn cute.

-In other baby news, William and Kate are starting to send out thank-you notes for their baby gifts. Adorabs!

-Paging George Clooney! Eva Longoria broke up with her boyfriend.

-Can being famous be a pain in the ass? Undoubtedly. Does the general public want to hear about how being famous can be a pain in the ass? Hells no. Someone needs to remind Robert Pattinson of this.

-Well, this isn’t a good sign: even People magazine is getting in on the Khloe and Lamar split rumours.

Joey Fatone is denying an ‘NSYNC reunion will take place at Sunday’s VMAs. You can’t trick us, Joey! This thing is happening, if only by sheer public will.

-It looks like Alec Baldwin is just days away from becoming a new dad.

-It’s a big magazine month for Victoria Beckham: she landed the covers of Vogue Australia, Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, and Vogue China.

Cory Feldman’s birthday party (which guests paid to attend) went down exactly as you’d expect.

-I don’t hate Taylor Swift, but this takedown of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is brilliant. Especially the part where he talks about her relationships with John Mayer and Jake Gyllenhaal. (“What are you people doing? You. Are. Adults. Do you know what a 21-year-old is like? They’re essentially mentally disabled.”)

-The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach lost a whole lot in his divorce settlement, including $5 million, a house, and a lock of Bob Dylan‘s hair.

Ben Stiller is set revive Reality Bites as a comedy series for NBC. Anyone else think this is a terrible idea? I saw it on TV recently and man, that film does not age well. When I saw it when as a teenager, I thought Troy was a dreamy outcast. Now he comes off as an arrogant prig.

-I love and adore Robert Sheenan from Misfits, but I just can’t sign off on these flip-flops.

-Game Of Thrones’ star Natalie Dormer has just been cast in third Hunger Games movie. Love her!

-Ben Affleck celebrated his 41st birthday (and new Batman gig) with a party thrown by Jennifer Garner.

-Speaking of YA adaptations, the very first Divergent teaser trailer is here. It’s hard to judge from such a short peek, but I’m optimistic.
