Aubrey Plaza Ignored Chris Pratt’s Advice

-While I hate the granny panty/diaper they put her in on the cover, Aubrey Plaza looks adorable in the inner pages of Cosmo. (This REDValentino dress is my fave.) In the interview, she talks about advice she got from her Parks and Rec costars (“Chris Pratt used to tell me when he would give me advice: ‘The separation is in the preparation.’ He’s one of those people who’s always very prepared. I was kind of the opposite. Clearly, it worked out for him”), and creating her own projects (“I’m so used to relying on this patriarchal idea of waiting around for someone to say, ‘You’—some brilliant man. -The Jonas Brothers have a new documentary, where they talk about their purity ring past. Joe says of the virginity symbols: “That was not who we were. It was just something that we did when we were young kids but we wore the rings through the first bit of the band starting to explode, at that point it was already too late because it was in the media.”

–Lady Rose Cholmondeley (aka the woman at the centre of all those Prince William rumours) attended the State Banquet last night, but while her husband got to walk in with the procession that included the Queen, the Trumps, etc. she did not.

–Christoph Waltz and Wallace Shawn have joined the cast of the next Woody Allen film, and as much as I hate cancel culture we might need to evoke it now for these two. (Allen’s already long cancelled, obvs.)

-Who says spoilers are harmful? After the end of James Holzhauer‘s winning streak was leaked, last night’s Jeopardy was the most watched episode in 14 years.

–Jon Hamm is incredibly charming in this interview clip with David Tennant. His little smirk at the camera after his says “always add an extra 1/2 inch.” 🤣

Lizzo Talks Body Positivity and Authenticity

–Lizzo looks amazing on the cover of Essence! She talks about talks about embracing authenticity: “I made a decision to be myself because I knew I had no choice. Sometimes the label ‘unapologetic’ bothers me because it can be loaded, because it means we have to apologize for something in the first place. I’m not ignorant to the fact that we had to have a demeanor of lowering ourselves culturally just to exist. But I’m trying to shake up the narrative about how we’re supposed to act.”

–Robert Pattinson has landed the lead Matt Reeves‘ The Batman. Twitter blew up in outrage over this last night, this makes sense to me. Maybe people only know him from Twilight, but both he and Kristen Stewart have been doing some really interesting films in the last few years. And I’m not worried about him not being able to put on muscle; that’s what trainers are for.

-Ahead of this Sunday’s series finale, I really liked this roundup of female TV critics talking about how the show has failed its women this year.

-This saddens me: Busy Philipps bid a tearful goodbye to her E! talk show. “The most important lesson that we learned here is that it is a marathon, not a sprint, and the real trick is figuring out what the f*ck the marathon is that you’re actually running. And I have to tell you something: Guys, we haven’t even broken a sweat yet.”

-I love that Halle Berry makes a point to stops for black reporters on a red carpet.

-The casting for BBC/HBO’s His Dark Materials (James McAvoy, Ruth Wilson, Lin-Manuel Miranda) is pretty damn perfect.

Taylor Swift Couldn’t Defeat Thanos

–Taylor Swift appeared on the Ellen Show today, where she apologized for once trash-talking Joe Jonas on the show, revealed that she shaves her legs every day, and geeked out over Avengers: Endgame.

-Can we leave Britney alone, for real this time? Britney Spears’ manager says he’s worried about her well-being, he’s not pressuring her to perform and she may never again. “Let her be a civilian for a while. She’s given so much. Give her time.” On the flip side, her mom says that she’s doing “wonderfully.”

-Meanwhile, Kevin Federline is reportedly blocking her from spending more time with her sons until she’d deemed “stable.”

-An arrest warrant has been issued for Stan Lee‘s former business manager, who’s charged with elder abuse.

-In happier Stan Lee news, this is a very cute clip of Brie Larson meeting the late comic creator.

-I’m so behind on the Lupita Nyong’o and Janelle Monae gossip. Are they really a thing? And why do people keep talking about Brie and Lupita? Whoever is or is not dating, I love it all.

-Have you watched Wine Country on Netflix yet? It’s a delight! Busy Philipps had the cast on her show to talk dildos and women directors, as well as drink lots of wine.

-Speaking of the Wine Country cast, Amy Poehler is hyped for a Parks & Rec reunion: “I’m Avengers-style ready to put it on at any time.”

–Mick Jagger is 75 and he can still move like this.

-The CW didn’t renew their deal with Netflix, instead opting to shop their new shows to other streaming services (or keep them on their own). A lot of their shows survived of their Netflix popularity/revenue alone; I’m guessing this will be the last season they renew every show on their slate.

-I kind of love that stars are treating their show’s renewal announcements like they’re Constance Wu.

-CBS’ handling of Bull/Michael Weatherly still sucks.

–Milla Jovovich opened up about the “horrific” abortion experience on Instagram in response to the new abortion bill signed into law in Georgia, outlawing all abortions after six weeks: “I myself went through an emergency abortion 2 years ago. I was 4 1/2 months pregnant and shooting on location in Eastern Europe. I went into pre term labor and told that I had to be awake for the whole procedure. It was one of the most horrific experiences I have ever gone through. I still have nightmares about it. I was alone and helpless. When I think about the fact that women might have to face abortions in even worse conditions than I did because of new laws, my stomach turns.

-Ooh boy. In a since-deleted Twitter thread, the creator of How I Met Your Mother weighed in on Game of Thrones by saying the reason people want to see a redemption arc for Jamie (and why people rooted for Barney on his show) are the reason Trump is president. What?? Dude, by Sunday GoT may take over your show’s title of the worst finale ever. Just sit back and hope it happens!

–Paul Rudd accepts a dangerous mission in his SNL promo.

–Miley Cyrus plays a pop star in the new Black Mirror season 5 trailer. Looks like this season is only three episodes, which sounds perfect.
