Scandal and HTGAWM Are Shooting a Crossover Episode

Shonda Rhimes just revealed a Scandal/How To Get Away With Murder crossover and even though I don’t watch either show anymore, the prospect of Kerry Washington and Viola Davis sharing scenes will bring me back for an ep.

-Interesting that Brad Pitt‘s camp is putting it out there that he’s “casually dating.” Prepping us for an awards show date, perhaps?

-Speaking of awards, the SAG nominations were announced and for the first time in years, Kevin Spacey and Jeffrey Tambor didn’t make the cut, another sign that they are no longer welcome in this awards season circle.

-I am very, very interested in how the red carpet questions are going to go down this year.

Hoda and Savannah‘s combined salaries are reportedly $11 million less than Matt Lauer was. Of course.

-Congrats to Ellen Pagewho married her longtime girlfriend, Emma Portner.

-Netflix says Bright is its highest-viewed original film ever  in its launch week. The film is currently the No. 1 movie on the site in over 190 countries is being streamed by more international users than domestic. Not surprisingly, Netflix has greenlit a sequel to the terribly reviewed but allegedly well watched film. Also not surprisingly, Max Landis won’t be writing this one.

-Glad I’m not the only one who noticed that Black Mirror seems to have no idea what the morning after pill is.

America Ferrera reunited with her Traveling Pants sisters Blake Lively, Amber Tamblyn and Alexis Bledel in this cute snap she posted.

-The CW superheroes suit up in a new teaser for their upcoming mid-season returns. Barry’s reactions to Oliver’s grumpiness will never not make me laugh…

-Speaking of CW shows, the Pierce family fights back in the latest trailer for Black Lightning.

-On Twitter Dan Harmon apologized to a Community writer for harassment, calling himself an “awful boss,” a “selfish baby” and saying “i’m filled with regret and a lot of foggy memories about abusing my position, treating you like garbage.”  She responded: “I wish my memories were foggier. I wish there was a way to fix it. It took me years to believe in my talents again, to trust a boss when he complimented me and not cringe when he asked for my number. I was afraid to be enthusiastic, knowing it might be turned against me later.”

-Here’s Bruce Willis in the incredibly ill-timed Death Wish trailer.

-A member of a black sorority teaches a white sorority how to step  in the trailer for Step Sisters and I am deeply uncomfortable…

Sterling K. Brown Got To Finish His Emmy Speech

-It was BS (and incredibly bad optics) to let Nicole Kidman speak forever, but to play Sterling K Brown off in the middle of his Emmy speech. But he finished it backstage and it was glorious.

-Feud’s Jackie Hoffman having a fake meltdown after losing to Laura Dern was my favourite part of the Emmy’s.

-Also, did anyone else notice that when Kidman talked about her kids in her speech, she left out the ones she’d adopted with Tom Cruise? Do you think they’ve cut ties with her completely for being an SP?

-Overall, the Emmy’s were great. When Game of Thrones isn’t allowed to play, you end up with a bunch of diverse winners like Riz Ahmed, Donald Glover, and Lena Waithe making history, Hulu breaking through big time, and female-focused fare taking the lead. (That Sean Spicer appearance was total crap, though.)

-This photo of Elisabeth Moss celebrating with Jon Hamm makes me happy.

-I was so annoyed by Shailene Woodley‘s tone-deaf quotes on the red carpet. Maybe don’t slam TV at an event celebrating TV, mm-kay?

-The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan and One Tree Hill’s Hilarie Burton confirmed they are expecting baby No. 2 with some red carpet belly cupping.  I always forget those two are together, but I dig it.

Milo Ventimiglia took his rumoured new girlfriend (a marketing coordinator for Stella McCartney) as his Emmys date.

Ben Affleck plus-one’d it last night.

-Grey’s Anatomy alum Kate Walsh revealed she was diagnosed with a brain tumor two years ago, but she’s fine now and is urging everyone to get checked.

-It was a tumultuous weekend on social media for Kevin Hart. He admitted to cheating on his pregnant wife, posting an emotional video apologizing to his wife and kids following an alleged extortion attempt by the woman he hooked up with.

-Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri got a major boost for its Oscar prospects on Sunday by winning TIFF’s People’s Choice Award. I voted for it. (I will say it’s weird that no one seems to be talking about the fact that the TIFF app — which is where you vote — did not list Call Me By Your Names as an option. It was clearly a bug, but I bet the results would have been different if the app worked.)

-Here’s our first look at David Tennant and Michael Sheen in Good Omens, Amazon’s Neil Gaiman series. I can’t wait!

-Audiences hate Jennifer Lawrence‘s ‘Mother!’, giving it a CinemaScore of F. Do you know how hard it is to get a score that low?!

Leah Remini says Jada Pinkett Smith is secretly a Scientologist and that Tom Cruise likes to host adult games of hide and seek.  Sounds totally normal…

Kelly Clarkson is so not a fan of Dr. Luke that she turned down potential millions in royalties just they wouldn’t share a writing credit. Bless her.

Amber Tamblyn capped off her killer week with an op-ed in the New York Times in response to being called a liar by actor James Woods.  “I have been afraid of speaking out or asking things of men in positions of power for years.”

-Wait wait wait — there’s a tribute album for Tegan & Sara‘s The Con? And CHVRCHES does a cover of “Call It Off”? Just take my money now.

-I don’t watch horror movies but this trailer really builds.

-Speaking of trailers, I’m not sure if I can handle a new Blake Lively one on a Monday. Knock yourself out, though:

Angelina Jolie Says Her Family Is No Longer in “Lockdown”

angelina-jolie-people

Angelina Jolie is selling her new movie hard (probably even harder now that the reviews following its TIFF premiere have been decidedly mixed). In a new People cover story, she spoke about the “difficult” year she’s had and revealed that she’s “a little bit stronger,” and that her family is now out of “lockdown.”

-16-year-old Maddox was also interviewed. I guess that’s what happens when you make your kid an exec producer of your movie.

Rebel Wilson has been awarded record-breaking $3.6 million in that defamation suit. She says she plans to “give the money away.”

-THR did a deep-dive into This Is Us, which returns Sept 26. The article is great, but even greater is this photo.

Harrison Ford is interviewed in the latest issue of GQ, and this part where he explains how he punched Ryan Gosling must be read.

Demi Lovato may possibly be dating a girl. Here for it.

Amber Tamblyn continues to drag James Woods, this time by penning an open letter to him in Teen Vogue. God, I love her.

-During a rapid-fire segment of an interview, Kate Hudson said the ‘laziest’ thing she’s ever done is have a C-section, so of course the torches came out on social media.

Maggie Gyllenhaal doesn’t know anything about the scarf Taylor Swift says she left at her house and she wants y’all to stop asking about it.

-Millennial pink is still going strong, huh? Rihanna filled the Park Avenue Armory with pink sand dunes for her latest Fenty collection.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue to inch closer to an engagement. He’s reportedly introduced her to the Queen.

-Out of all the shows that were competing in EW’s fall TV cover battle, I didn’t think Riverdale would be the one to come out on top. What do I know?  Meanwhile, here’s the trailer for season 2.

Diane Kruger just took the crown for the worst-dressed at TIFF (and this is coming from someone who’s going to tonight’s TIFF activities in her fat jeans…)

Carey Mulligan showed up at TIFF looking very not-pregnant, so she must have had her second kid recently.

Idris Elba is so over all those questions about possibly playing Bond. (“Can we not? Because it feels like I’m campaigning, and I’m not. At first it was harmless — oh, I know, wouldn’t it be great? — and now it’s started off racial debates. I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world, and I’ve not even played the role. Enough is enough. I can’t talk about it any more.”)

Tyrese is publicly feuding with The Rock via Instagram comments. This will not end well for him.

Josh Brolin, Miles Teller and Taylor Kitsch play firefighters in the trailer for Only the Brave.
